The Music of A.R.Rahman with the BBC SSO - Glasgow Concert Halls

India's A.R. Rahman – composer, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and philanthropist – is by some measures the world's bestselling recording artist, with more album sales, via his movie scores, than Elvis, the Beatles or all the Jacksons combined. Above all, of course, he is famed for his soundtrack to the 2008 smash Slumdog Millionaire, a heady melting-pot of classical, traditional and contemporary Indian sounds with reggae, Latin and electronic influences, which won two of the film's eight Oscars. This first Scottish performance of Rahman's music features the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra with vocal students from the composer's own Music Conservatory in Chennai and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, along with Indian instrumentalists including Rahman himself
